Visions of Fantasy - Dreamland Magic Newsletter
December 17, 2007

I cannot believe that it is only one week until Christmas! This year has certainly flown by and there is still so much left to do before the big day! I know that you are probably all busy with the hustle and bistle, and the kids will soon be out of school for their Christmas holidays, so do make sure to take a few hours of quiet time for yourselves!

To give you a wee bit of quiet time, I've added three (3) new holiday games to Dreamland Magic Christmas. The kids can have a bit of fun playing the new games; Pengapop, Sketchy Snow Sledder or Ski Slope Showdown, or some of the older games such as Adventure Elf and Spank the Frank while you relax, or you can even play a game or two yourself (Blackjack Elf is a fun game). You'll find the games over at A Dreamland Magic Christmas

This week's recipe is a chocolately delicious peanut butter confection. I bet that you cannot eat just one of these delicious Peanut Butter Chocolate Bonbons!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Bonbons
  • 2 cups peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter
  • 4 ½ cups icing sugar
  • 3 cups rice crisp cereal
  • 12 oz. chocolate chips
  • Now, you are going to need a cookie jar for all of those delicious treats you've been making. How about this cute Santa Cookie jar?
Villeroy & Boch Joy Noel Santa Cookie Jar 12''

In pan, heat and melt butter and peanut butter over low heat, until just melted.

In large bowl mix sugar and cereal.

Pour butter mixture into cereal and blend with spoon: when cooled mix thoroughly with hands.

Mix until the mixture will hold together.

    Form into 1" balls.

Place on greased cookie sheets and chill.

    After balls are completely chilled:

    Melt chocolate over boiling water.

Put ball on a fork and spoon chocolate over top thinly.

Put on cookie sheets in fridge until chocolate sets.

    Store in fridge.

    Freezes well.

    Ic Cream Cone Ornament
Marnie sent us this simple craft for kids.

    Materials

  • Ice cream cones
  • Glass or satin Christmas balls
  • Gingerbread House Cement (recipe below)
  • Sparkles
  • Spray varnish
  • Ice Cream Cone Ornament

    Gingerbread House Cement

  • 4 egg whites
  • 6 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • In an electric mixer, beat the egg whites with 1 cup of the sugar and the cream of tartar until smooth.

Add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at time.

    Mix until creamy and smooth.

    1) Spread some "cement" inside the ice cream cone to glue the ball into.

    2) Press ball gently inside the cone and then spread some "cement" all around the edge where the ball meets the cone.

    3) Pour and spread some "cement" over the top of the ball so that it looks like it is snow-covered. Make sure to keep the hanger part clear of "snow".

    4) Add some sparkles to the "cement" while it is still a bit wet.

    5) When the ornament is completely dry, an adult can take it outside and spray the varnish over it to preserve it for years to come.
